In einer klinischen Studie untersucht Dr. Michael Korsch die Auswirkungen eines Methacrylat-Zements auf das periimplantäre Gewebe.
Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass bei Einsatz eines entsprechenden Zements zur Befestigung von
festsitzenden Zahnersatz auf Implantaten ganz spezifische Risiken auftreten, die den Langzeiterfolg der Implantation in Frage stellen.

A longitudinal three-center study of craniofacial morphology at 6 and 12 years of age in patients with complete bilateral cleft lip and palate
Abstract
In this longitudinal study, the craniofacial morphology and evaluated soft tissue profile changes, at 6 and 12 years of age in patients with complete bilateral cleft lip and palate (CBCLP) were compared. Lateral cephalograms from 148 patients with CBCLP, treated consecutively at three European cleft centers, Gothenburg (n (A) = 37), Nijmegen (n (B) = 26), and Oslo (n (C) = 85), were evaluated. Eighteen hard tissue and ten soft tissue landmarks were digitized. Paired t test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression models were applied for statistical analysis.

Photographs of dental casts or digital models: rating dental arch relationships in bilateral cleft lip and palate
Abstract
Yardsticks have been developed to measure dental arch relations in cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients as diagnostic proxies for the underlying skeletal relationship. Travelling with plaster casts to compare results between CLP centres is inefficient so the aim of this study was to investigate the reliability of using digital models or photographs of dental casts instead of plaster casts for rating dental arch relationships in children with complete bilateral cleft lip and palate (CBCLP). Dental casts of children with CBCLP (n=20) were included. Plaster casts, digital models and photographs of the plaster casts were available for all the children at 6, 9, and 12 years of age.

Tooth agenesis patterns in unilateral cleft lip and palate in humans
ABSTRACT:
To characterize tooth agenesis patterns and their overall prevalence in patients with complete unilateral cleft lip and palate (CUCLP).
RESULTS:
Agenesis of at least one tooth was found in 48.7%, and agenesis outside the cleft was observed in 20.9% of patients. The lateral incisor of the maxillary cleft quadrant was the tooth most frequently missing (39.1%), followed by the maxillary lateral incisor (8.7%), and the mandibular second premolar (7.8%) in the non-cleft quadrants. Thirteen different tooth agenesis patterns were identified. Maxillary and/or maxillary and mandibular second and/or first premolars were involved in all patterns.

Feste Zähne an einem Tag
Im vorliegenden Fall wird eine Therapieoption bei frakturierten nicht erhaltungsfähigen Frontzähnen dargestellt. In einem operativen Eingriff erfolgte die  Entfernung der tief frakturierten Zähne 11 und 22, die Sofortimplantation mit Augmentation Regio 11 und 22 sowie die Sofortversorgung mit einem festsitzenden Langzeitprovisorium. Nach vier Monaten wurde der
provisorische Zahnersatz entfernt und beide Implantate durch einen festsitzenden Zahnersatz definitiv versorgt.

Die Lernchancen und der Erfahrungsgewinn aus einer derartigen Konfrontation spielten dabei eine wichtige Rolle.

Diversity of patients microflora on orthopaedic and
dental implants
The aim of this study was to compare the diversity of microbial colonization on implant material from different individuals. Eubacterial DNA was extracted, separated and sequenced from orthopaedic metallic implant material, tissues or body fluids, and skin of 4 patients as well as from identical dental cement material from 10 individuals after revision and routine removal. Additionally, the composition of the bacterial population of the dental cement and the oral swab sample from one individual after direct extraction of bacterial DNA was compared to extraction after conventional microbiological enrichment.

Minimal-invasiver Diastemaschluss im Frontzahnbereich mit direkter Komposittechnik

Ein Fall aus der Poliklinik der Akademie für Zahnärztliche Fortbildung Karlsruhe
Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird der erfolgreiche minimal-invasive Lückenschluss eines Diastema mediale im Oberkiefer dargestellt. Mit Hilfe der direkten Komposittechnik konnte der als störend empfundene Dunkelraum substanzschonend, schnell und elegant geschlossen werden. Ein spezieller Silikonschlüssel, eine adäquate Matrizentechnik und ein unkompliziertes Kompositsystem mit unterschiedlichen Schmelz-, Dentin-, Efekt- und Intensivfarben trugen zum Erfolg der formverändernden Restauration bei.
